Dermatology Referral Information

Greater Glasgow and Clyde Dermatology Services are available for daytime on-call referrals at the following hospitals: Glasgow Royal Infirmary (GRI), Queen Elizabeth University Hospital (QEUH), Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), Inverclyde Royal Hospital (IRH), Gartnavel General Hospital (GGH) and Royal Hospital for Children (RHC).

Pre-existing stable dermatoses prior to admission will not be addressed by the acute on-call team. Routine referrals should be via a standard clinic referral letter to the local Dermatology department.

Referrals to QEUH, RHC and GGH for advice or emergency cases should be submitted by Trakcare. The on-call registrar can also be reached via page on 17078 (QEUH) and 14608 (GGH).

Emergency referrals to RAH or IRH should be from consultants to dermatology secretaries who will pass details to the relevant consultant for triage. Contact details for senior members of staff must be provided to facilitate a consultant to consultant discussion. Contact details: RAH 0141 314 6612, IRH 01475 5014508.

Emergency referrals to GRI should be from consultants to the dermatology secretaries via the emergency hotline. Tel no: 0141 531 9138.

Out of hours emergency dermatology advice can be sought via switchboard.
